"The truth of the romance had
been reduced to a simple fairy tale.
And while Cinderella and her
Prince did live happily ever after the
point, gentlemen is that they
lived."
Ever After, directed by Andy Tennant in 1998, is a retelling of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. Set in France during the Renaissance period, Ever After removes comic and supernatural elements to be treated as historical fiction.
"Ever after brings to life a legend making us believe in the strongest magic of all; the power of the human heart. It is an enchanting adventure about having the courage to make your dreams come true. A young woman of the 16th century, Danielle de Barbarac, is as independent and wise as she is beautiful and kind. Against remarkable odds, she stands up to her scheming step-mother and works miracles on the lives of everyone around her, including the crown prince of France." ~excerpts from the DVD Cover About the Director & Context of the PeriodBackground & Personal Context:
